How We Serve
PrayerCuts!
PrayerCuts! offers free haircuts to our Veteran and Homeless population once a month.
PrayerCuts! Creates spaces where conversations occur, dignity is restored, hope is renewed, and our neighbors receive the attention and care that they need and deserve.
Prison Ministry
Semper Fi Mission’s Prison Outreach includes visiting the Veteran’s Pod in the Allegheny County Jail once a week. We carry a message of HOPE, provide bibles, recovery literature, and more to change the the narrative of our brothers in arms who are incarcerated.
We stay in contact with recently released individuals to ensure they get the spiritual and material support they need to find housing, meaningful employment, and a community that supports them on their journey of recovery.
We walk with them side-by-side so that they can recover and reach their full potential.
Community Outreach
We provide a monthly meal in the community feeding over 100 of our neighbors in need. We also have two large storage units filled with clothes, hygiene items, and other necessities that we transport to our outreach to provide our neighbors with all of their needs.
Frequently, as needed, we will immediately find temporary housing for the homeless, paying for hotels or other safe places, in order to get them connected to a social services organization who can meet their needs long-term.
Twice a month we canvass the streets of Pittsburgh providing food, sleeping bags, bibles and other literature to promote our other outreach events that will connect them with resources to get them permanently off the streets and onto a better way of living.
Mentorship
The Veterans Mentorship and Recovery program is a specialized mentoring initiative aimed at supporting veterans who are experiencing homelessness, struggling with addiction, and mental health. This program provides a holistic approach to recovery by pairing veterans with trained mentors who have firsthand experience and expertise in overcoming similar challenges.
Key components include:
-
Dedicated Mentorship: Each veteran is matched with a mentor who offers personalized support, encouragement, and guidance through the recovery process, fostering a trusting relationship.
-
Comprehensive Assessment: Participants receive a thorough assessment to identify their unique needs related to housing, addiction treatment, and mental health, ensuring tailored support.
-
Substance Abuse Counseling Referrals: The program collaborates with organizations to provide access to addiction treatment services, including individual and group therapy sessions.
-
Housing Assistance: Mentors help veterans navigate available resources for secure housing, including shelters, transitional housing programs, and permanent housing solutions.
-
Community Reintegration: The program encourages veterans to connect with local support networks and community activities, helping them build a sense of belonging and purpose.
The Veterans Mentorship and Recovery program seeks to empower veterans to reclaim their lives, offering the tools and support needed to overcome homelessness and addiction while fostering resilience and hope for the future.
